SWABIAN ALB – BEST IN SOUTHWEST
“Grüß Gott” to our new Enduro Tour over the rough Swabian Alb and the Danubian Mountains to Lake Constance and back!
Following the slogan “Why go to the distance, see the good is so close”, we want to expand our offer a little downwards from 2018 on. Our new dainty and appetizer is designed to make the world of roadbookTouren as easy as possible! No long journey to the destination area, no cross tire conversion and no tricky navigation tasks. For this 2-day tour, we have been able to win the devil of a fellow and long-term editor Werner “Mini” Koch, who knows the region and routes as a passionate MTB and enduro rider like his vest pocket and the role of being a tourguide. Thus, the route can be adapted individually or according to the weather conditions and no one is overstrained.
The tour is less oriented on the wild Enduro-mucky pup – we want to draw attention with this tour, how nice it is in our proximity and what a genial (gravel-) road network here is still legal to drive!
DAY 1: Individual arrival until 8:30 am to the starting point in Bad Urach. Short hello, introduction and short group driving instructions. At 9 o’clock we will start on the heights of the Swabian Alb. A first tank stop is planned after about 120 km, and at the latest when the stomachs begin to growl slowly, we should be on the southern plateau towards the Danube Valley and have found a nice restaurant.
We continue through the Danube mountain landscape and its small valleys to our accommodation for the evening and the night. Now finally the time has come for a cool refreshment drink and we are eagerly awaiting the evening talks after we have enjoyed the Badisch-Swabian cuisine …
DAY 2: At the latest today, confessed enduro drivers and motorcyclists will find out that there are sensational beautiful landscapes and driving routes, and you definitely do not always have to go abroad. A valley and pass tail line seamlessly joins the next. We snake slowly towards north. Even today, distances can not be expressed simply in kilometers, but the driving time must be taken into account. In the early evening our hometown exit ends in the area of Tübingen.
Subject to alterations
Approximately 400 kilometers, 30% Off-Road, day stages 200 – 250 kilometers.
The route leads across narrow, small asphalt roads or gravel roads across the Swabian Alb towards the Danube Valley. Even in wet weather, the route is easy to ride with normal road enduro tires and large adventure bikes. If the ground is too much softened or wet, we avoid the critical passages.
We are partly on gravel roads, but not on the “Dakar”. With the serial tire the non-asphalted sections are thus easily feasible. Should it rain, we may take detours for some off-road passages.
The gravel roads of this tour are so selected that they can be driven by endurists with adventure bikes. Off-road experience in the form of a course or completed gravel kilometer is certainly helpful, but not absolutely necessary. Not to be underestimated are however the really small streets, where you swing the whole day from curve to curve. So, solid basic driving, good cornering technique and ultimately also endurance are required. No tour for absolute beginners!
Complete protective clothing. We recommend enduro boots and a functional and well ventilated motorcycle clothing, the knee pads can stay at home.
Our accommodation will be the Berg-Gasthof Witthoh. It is located on an 862 m high hill with views of Lake Constance and the Alps and has an upscale standard. We are accommodated in double rooms with shower / WC, for extra charge also single rooms are available.
1 hotel accommodation in a double room, half board, tour guide, technical support.
Gasoline, drinks, lunch, travel cancellation insurance.
